What to tell a grieving friend who's distraught over euthanizing her cats?
My best friend had two cats she had to euthanize this past Monday. She had been battling with keeping them healthy, for at least 6 months, as they both had the feline AIDS. One of them was requiring steroid shots every 4 weeks just to be able to eat. She is an emotional wreck and feels like a murderer. I have no idea what to tell her. While I feel her pain, I'm not a pet person. And I certainly don't feel like she's a murderer. Any ideas on how I can help ease her pain?
Can you get roundworms from cats?
Everybody says you have to eat the cat's feces to get roundworms, which of course we do not, but what about my cats dragging litter from their paws up to my table they have long hair and I find occasionally cat litter on my table from attaching to their paws or sitting with their butt on my lap or finding cat hair on food? I found a worm in my cat's vomit today and am so disgusted i feel like getting rid of them now that they have worms cause I worry my kids will get them and even myself yes, you don t eat cat feces, but it seems very easy for the eggs to be dragged anywhere...or say my kids cleaned the litter, got their hands dirty, opened the faucet to wash their hands, and then the faucet has roundoworm eggs Gosh, and how would we know if we got them?got pyrantal pamoate from walmart gave them a dose and will repeat in 14 days.people always confuse ringworms with roundworms, lol

How to prevent mother from getting rid of the cat?
I recently moved back into my parents' house because of a divorce. I brought my cat with me. My mom was not crazy about it, but she allowed it. Last week, the cat got me a little mad. I had this leftover salmon from the night before. I did mot want it to go to waste, so i gave it to the cat all cats love fish . However, the cat would not eat it There was nothing wrong with, it was only a day old. Anyway, I got so mad that I decided to get back at him. What I did was spread some peanut butter on the bottom of the kitchen door, and I told my mom the cat pooped there She got really mad but I think I went too far. Now my mom says the cat needs to go. What can I do? I don't want to give up my cat, but I am afraid she will yell at me if I tell her what I did. Moving out is not an option since I am unemployed Please help
Cat Has Rapid Shallow Breathing?
I noticed that my 9 year old male, neutered short hair domestic cat was breathing somewhat shallowly a week or so ago. At the time I thought he was just hot because he was laying in the sun every time I saw this and he is 12lbs a little over weight, despite a strict diet on " Life's Abundance" . He has never been outside other than in a carrier . I don't keep or use any pesticides or poisons. I have had him since he was 1 and he has always snored and was just a noisy breather. He has always had an issue with weight and will get winded more quickly than my other cats when playing.I took him to the vet the day before yesterday. The vet listened to his lungs and said he sounds a little wheezy. They also said his temperature was slightly low. He was shivering on the exam table, but the table was extremely cold like ice. They said he might have asthma and gave him some kind of shot. It seemed to help a tiny bit at first, but it may have been wishful thinking. Now his breathing almost seems worse. He isn't panting or acting like he is in pain. When I push on his belly or limbs he doesn't react in pain. He isn't lethargic and is eating, drinking, and using the litter box as he normally would. He also is still interested in playing and being pet. So basically everything is normal except his breathing.I haven't changed his food or litter lately we use almost dust free litter . Also, the day before I took him to the vet and the main reason I did was because he was walking and then suddenly laid on the floor, meowing in pain and became relatively stiff. He peed on himself a little bit, then got up and laid on the kitchen floor with him back legs out straight, which he never does. This was after the abnormal breathing started.I'm planning to take him to the vet again tomorrow or Monday. But I just wonder if anyone has any suggestions or ideas as to what could be causing this so the vet doesn't decide to run thousand's of dollars of pointless tests and leave me with no answers and waste time when he could be getting the proper treatment.P.S. All my cats are flea treated and stay indoors and I don't have any other pets. I live in eastern NC since some things are regional .Please no obvious answers like take him back to the vet already working on that. I know about heartworms and am going to ask the vet about getting him tested even though it is very rare for indoor cats to get heartworms. My other thought is checking for diabetes and related kidney or liver problems but like I said, he isn't lethargic which would be more consistent with these problems. He hasn't gone outside. He wasn't sniffing or trying to smell something. He is breathing like that all the time, even when he is sleeping. I know the difference between normal breathing and abnormal breathing. I just don't know what is causing the abnormal breathing.
Is this safe for a mother cat and her kittens?
Her kittens are about a week old and I saw a flea on one of the kittens. I was wondering if I put some frontline on the mother would it hurt the kittens. I have heard of people using drops on mother cats and it takes care of fleas for the whole family.
