Stopping cat scratching furniture, unique solutions, have tried everything?
Ok, so my kitten has a thing for scratching the red couches I have downstairs and one sisal like rug. Nothing can stop her, I'm looking for something better then the usual solutions. Things I have tried...1. She has four different scratchers of every texture imaginable carpet, sisal, wood, etc etc. They are tall and at different angles. One hangs on the door, one on the floor, one is a condo, and the other is a ramp. 2. When she is upstairs she always uses her scratchers but she will not use them when I bring them downstairs so I know she knows how to use them. I always praise her when she scratches on them.3. Whenever she scratches I say " No" firmly not yelling and pick her up, put her by her scratcher and praise her she just runs off to somewhere else4. The double sided sticky tape is useless because she knocks it off or picks a different part of the couch5. She wears soft paws but as they fall off she manages to claw into the furniture anyway I work hard to keep up with them, but it's not saving my furniture6. She could care less about catnip so it doesn't encourage her to use the scratchers7. I've been trying to train her to use them with fresh cooked, plain chicken but it doesn't help because she knows how to use them, she just wont use them in the presence of the red couches. 8. I cannot move the couches or get rid of them. What can I do? The couches and rug were very expensive and I will under NO circumstances declaw her. I don't want to use a water pistol unless is absolutely necessary because I don't want to traumatize her. I don't mind her being on or near the couches I just don't want her tearing them apart. She is set to be spayed in a few weeks. Thanks 9. I cannot wrap the couches in cling wrap because they are so large it would take an eon. Plus she scratches many different areas so I would have to cover them completely additionally I could never cover the rug because it's huge
Why is my cat scratching himself when he has no fleas?
I think there might be something wrong with my cat. I ve noticed over the summer that he scratches himself a lot. My cat is an indoor cat and has no fleas. I m not sure if this is a skin irritation, maybe he s bothered by the heat but he tears apart his skin and has scabs all over his body. He was like this last summer as well. However, this summer is a bit different. I ve also noticed he s been vomiting a lot and has had some issues making it to the litter box.. or at least using the litter box. I m extremely worried about this.'.
Can somebody tell me why my cat scratches the carpet in between mouthfuls of food?
she only does this when she is having her weekly tin of cat food she eats science diet dry food throughout the week . she'll eat a few mouthfuls, then start clawing the carpet i feed her in my room , then she'll go back & eat another few mouthfuls, and start clawing the carpet AGAIN. does anybody know why she's behaving this way? none of my other cats do this or have ever done this i've always had 3 cats at a time, replacing one everytime one decides to kark it LOL. she is 11 months old, and i do give her adult tinned foot BUT science diet kitten food. she doesn't seem to get diarrhoea or anything either. and also, when she has finished, walks away & then comes back to sniff the rest of her food, she'll keep scratching for 4 5 minutes or so.

Do Main Coon Cats scratch or hiss?
I have had a MaineCoon or mainecoon mix breed cat and she has never hissed, scratched or clawed anyone one since I have had her. She is about 3 years old now and I got her at 1 and a half years. She will grab and bite, or cry if she is upset or does not like something. I was curious of other folks with Maine Coon cats experienced something similar with their own cats.No she has always been like this. This is her personality. She does not need to go to the vet.She is not agressive. She only bites if you pet her belly. She has good teeth and her fur is not matted. She is well cared for. I was just asking if it was something the breed was known for, not scratching or hissing ever.
Cat Scratching People Problem?
One of my cats, a Calico, has gotten into this habit of pawing scratching at anyone who walks past her. I would assume she is just playing, but to others, however, its an entirely different story. A lot of kids visit my house ranging from toddlers to children . She doesn't do it all the time, but she does it enough to the point that they are scared to past by her in fear of being scratched. We cannot get her declawed because it costs too much. The other option would be cutting her nails but the children would still be scared because she would still reach out. We cannot keep her in a closed off room because soon she will start meowing to get out and claw at my carpet. What can I do?
My cat scratched my dog in the eye, what should i do?
I have a 4 month old pit puppy..she was playing with my cat and got scratched on her eye. She just blinked a few times. But now seems perfectly fine. I put some contact solution in her eye to sterilize it b c I know cats paws carry many germs. From what I can see it looks like a tiny scratch. I know taking her to the very is a good idea but it will probably cost a fortune on Sunday b c we will have to take her to the emergency vet. I absolutely am willing to spend the money if she really needs it I just don't know if its necessary b c the scratch seems minor and she is acting fine. Any advice?
Cat scratches open doors during the night until we get up and feed/play/let him outside, how do we stop?
We had 2 cats, one went missing and since then the other has been scratching the doors in the house during the night. When he first did it we got up of course, but now he has figured out that we respond to him scratching and does it continuously until we get out of bed. It doesnt matter if the doors are open or closed he will scratch them so its nothing about getting in or out. We have tried ignoring it so we can brake the pattern and he will learn that he cant always get what he wants, however, its extremely difficult to sleep when he is scratching. When he scratches and we get up he goes to the kitchen for food or to the back door to go outside, i dont particularly like him being outside at night in winter and at first we fed him so now he is in the pattern of eating during the night and sleeping during the day. Any suggestions?

If i leave her out it takes me far too long to get too sleep, this cat is a real pain and I'm really starting to hate her because i'm at a loss of sleep with either of my options. what can i do? I can't kick her even though I'd like to I've read that they don't scratch tape, i'ma going to put some on my door so that she stops.I really can't let her in, she starts head butting me for another hour or so.
Why do some cats scratch peoples shins?
I am usually wearing jeans sitting down when that happens. My brother was at his friends house swimming in his friends swimming pool and noticed that he had a scratch there on his shins but didn't realize it.Also some cats do that as a way of trying to climb and sit on my lap.
Cat Scratched Neighbor in front of our driveway?
Hi there. My cat absolutely DESPISES dogs. he is an indoor cat. Somehow, he got outside when he does, he never goes anywhere, he just sits on the porch. we found this out when we got home one day anyways, we heard this lady yelping, not screaming. And so we all went outside, and my cat was hissing and scratching at the dog, although the old lady got in the way and her leg got scratched by my cat. There was no blood, just a scratch. Her husband came over later that day and threatened to kill my cat three times. My dad didn't want to argue with a 90 year old man who literally had an oxygen tank attached to him, so he calmly told him how our cat is INDOORS ONLY. And so the old man calmed down and talked about how he's taking his wife to the doctor. They demand to see his shot record we don't have it, because we got him from the shelter. We only have a medical history from when he got to the shelter . These people have come by around 4 or 5 times in the past two days.My dad later called them and said " I've tried to be nice to you guys. I'm sorry that my cat scratched you, but it's a minor injury, you will live. My kids are terrified that their cat wll be killed because of what your husband said. If i see you at my house again, i will be filing a restraining order. Now please stop harrassing my family and again, i'm sorry that my cat scratched you. Have a good day" My dad is really angry that they're taking this so seriously. She literally was not bleeding. Also, the old man denied ever saying he was going to kill my cat because his wife was there when my dad called. My sister and i both heard it as he said it three times. What can happen to my cat? Also, i will post more details upon request because i can't think of other things to add to this right now.Thank you 48 minutes ago 4 days left to answer.Additional DetailsThis happened right in front of our driveway. There's no gate seperating the sidewalk from my driveway yard47 minutes agomy cat didn't bite anyone16 minutes agoYeah my cat's neutered haha.He would never hurt a human. He was going for the dog and the lady picked up her dog as soon as my cat went for it.and the problem is that my cat would follow the dog to scratch it, when i say despise i mean he'll go right up there and get at it. But she picked up the dog so she could've walked away right there. My cat would never attack a human, so he wouldn't have continued trying to get at the dog when she picked him uphe has killed three cats on " Accident" beforehe has killed three cats on " Accident" beforeyeah my dad told him that he would cover any costs for going to the doctor. But they're real set on getting him taken away by animal control
